Timočanka


It derived from the cross of 'Stanley' and 'California Blue' in 1964, named and released in 2004. The authors were: Dr. Dobrivoje Ogašanović, Dr. Vlajisav Papić, MSc. Radunka Plazinić and Dr. Milojko Ranković.


The tree is exceptionally vigorous. The crown is widely spread with high bearing branches. It does not break under the weight of crop. Abundant in bearing wood. Bears on fruiting spurs and one-year-old branches. The flower bud contains 1.3 flowers on average. The leaf is large, ovate, deep green, glossy, with pronounced venation. The flower is large, white, with well-developed flower elements. It is partly self-fertile. Flowers approximately with 'Stanley'. Excellent cropper even in years with late frosts. It is somewhat more susceptible to the causal agent of fruit rot (Monilinia laxa Aderh et Ruhl.) in some years. Tolerant to Plum pox virus. Highly compatible with Myrobalan seedling rootstock.


The fruit is large, fruit weight ranging from 50−70 g. Dimensions: length - 49.6 mm, width - 44.8 mm, thickness - 44.8 mm. fruits are with nice blue color with heavy bloom. In some years it is overlaid with rust. Fruits are similar to 'Čačanska Lepotica' in appearance. The flesh is light yellow to amber, of excellent flavor. It contains 14.4−18.7 % soluble solids. The stone is large, rough, sometimes not fully free. Dimensions: length - 27.1 mm, width - 18.1 mm, thickness - 10.4 mm.


Ripens usually 3−4 weeks before 'Stanley'. Excellent for both shipping and storing.


Premium dessert cultivar with large, deep blue colored fruits and heavy bloom. During certain years fruits take on a rusty coating, which reduces its market value.
